Homemaking

The Lake County Council on Aging's Homemaking Service allows us to assist the aging population of our community in maintaining independence in their homes. Keeping their homes orderly ensures there are no safety hazards for tripping or falling over, and makes it easier to move about. Our services are provided on an income-based sliding rate cost share, to allow us to maintain affordability for those with limited incomes.
The following is a list of services our homemakers can assist with to keep your home comfortable and clean. This list is not all-inclusive, please call if you have questions.

Prohibited Homemaker Activities

Homemakers may not  be asked to do heavy duty housework such as:

 

  • Climb or work from ladders

  • Shampoo Carpets

  • Mow or weed eat lawns

  • Remove or install storm windows

  • Move or lift heavy furniture

  • Move anything weighing more than 40 pounds (especially up or down stairs)

Homemaker Jobs

 

If you are passionate about supporting the elderly as they strive to maintain independent living, please fill out an application and return it to us.

Homemaking duties include but are not limited to the activities listed above, and may include other in-home tasks and activities to enable individuals to maintain independent living. A positive attitude and the ability to communicate with others is a huge part of this position; homemakers are expected to be reliable, responsible, and punctual; able to be on feet throughout work shift and do light-to-moderate physical work and lifting; willing to travel short distances and must have a reliable phone.
